Mentor Graphics signs AMDL as new distributor in India

BANGALORE, INDIA: Mentor Graphics Corp. announced signing Opto Circuits (India) Ltd’s subsidiary, Advanced Micronic Devices Ltd, as a distributor in India.

As part of this agreement, AMDL will be responsible for market development, sales and pre- and post-sales support for the Mentor simulation and analysis tools, the PADS product and front-end design tools within the India region.

“We are very excited about our new agreement with AMDL. They have been established in the Indian market for a very long time, and bring the knowledge and expertise to board level design that will fit very well with our PADS product line,” stated Rick Bosshardt, VP, Mentor Graphics Geography and Distribution Channel. “In addition, the partnership with AMDL will increase our reach to customers and geographical coverage of the growing India market,” said Desmond Kwek, distribution channel manager, Pacrim, Mentor Graphics.

“Any association with an industry leader like Mentor Graphics is a major milestone for AMDL,” said J. Padmanabhan, head of SED Business Unit, AMDL. He added, “We will be able to complement the high-end products of Mentor Graphics with the strong sales and technical support capabilities of AMDL. Together, we hope to lend unmatched speed and cost-effectiveness to the growing electronics industry in India.”

Mentor Graphics sees huge potential in what AMDL’s Strategic Electronics Division can bring to the growing EDA market in India. AMDL was the first company that brought EDA desktop tools to India two decades ago. Since then, AMDL has built robust relationships and resources in the business that the Mentor Graphics can leverage to target new opportunities in India. AMDL will begin marketing the tools in August, 2011 to SMEs, PCB design houses and OEMs.
