Celeno collaborates with Sigma Designs to enable wireless STB platforms

IBC 2011, AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS: Celeno Communications announced a collaboration with Sigma Designs, the leading provider of connected media platforms, to promote the delivery of wireless connectivity to set-top boxes and connected media players.

Under the collaboration, Celeno’s CLR250 high-performance Wi-Fi/USB 450Mbps video-grade silicon and software has been pre-integrated and tested with Sigma’s most popular media processors: the SMP8652 and the SMP8670. Thanks to this collaboration, OEMs can now enable wireless connectivity on their solutions through just a simple USB interface to Sigma media processors.

“We believe that marrying together Sigma’s media processors with Celeno’s advanced Wi-Fi solution will enable set-top box OEMs to quickly introduce cost-effective, wireless solutions, helping service providers significantly speed up their IPTV deployments,” said Gilad Rozen, CEO and founder of Celeno.

“We are pleased to collaborate with leading media processing vendors, such as Sigma Designs, to deliver the next advancements in Wi-Fi connectivity to connected media platforms.”

“By developing high performance, video-grade Wi-Fi technology, Celeno components provide the boost in throughput, coverage, and quality necessary to deliver multiple HDTV, SDTV, VoIP and Data ‘triple play’ services over the home network,” stated Gabi Hilevitz, GM at Sigma Designs. “This technology, along with others, will play a key role in enabling connected media platforms to continue to grow throughout the home.”
