Mindspeed expands crosspoint line with 48- and 36-channel 6.5 Gbps devices

SC10, NEWPORT BEACH, USA: Mindspeed Technologies Inc., a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions for network infrastructure applications, has announced the immediate expansion of its industry leading crosspoint portfolio with 48x48 and 36x36 devices that further extend the world’s broadest line of crosspoint switches.

“Our Amplif-Eye products play a critical role in virtually every high-performance PCI Express, InfiniBand and SAS system design, as data rates and cabling lengths grow.”

Mindspeed is demonstrating its switching and signal-conditioning solutions at SC10 in Booth 4222 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana from November 15-18, 2010.

The 48x48 M21148 and 36x36 M23636 crosspoint switches feature Mindspeed’s Amplif-Eye signal-integrity management technology that delivers signal transmission speeds up to 6.5 Gbps. Mindspeed’s Amplif-Eye signal-integrity solutions enable storage, server and networking systems to support the industry's migration to higher data rates over backplanes and cabling media.

Mindspeed’s Amplif-Eye solutions deliver error-free high speed data transmission across cables and backplane traces. The family includes re-driving signal conditioners that use transmit and receive equalization to correct for insertion loss, and re-timing signal conditioners that add a clock data recovery (CDR) circuit to resolve jitter caused by crosstalk and reflections.

In addition to showing its new crosspoint switches at SC10, Mindspeed will also demonstrate how its eight-channel M21363 CDR maintains high PCI Express data rates, while transmitting data to and from a video card (as both a driver and receiver) across 10 meters of 30 AWG cable. The company will also demonstrate its dual-channel M21450 implementing serial attached SCSI (SAS) protocol across long twin-ax cables.

"Mindspeed continues to demonstrate its commitment to solving difficult challenges in high-growth markets where signal integrity is an increasingly difficult issue," said Kurt Busch, senior vice president and general manager, high-performance analog business unit, at Mindspeed. "Our Amplif-Eye products play a critical role in virtually every high-performance PCI Express, InfiniBand and SAS system design, as data rates and cabling lengths grow.”

Mindspeed’s M21148 and M23636 devices are fully production released and shipping in volume.
