QP Semi launches first dual-port SRAMs tailored for aerospace apps

SANTA CLARA, USA: QP Semiconductor, an e2v company, announced its entry into the market as the designer and manufacturer of high-performance dual-port static random access memories (SRAM) targeted at aerospace applications.

It is initially offering a second source for high-speed CMOS 4K x 16 and 8K x 16 asynchronous Dual-Port SRAMs with 60 percent lower power consumption in standby mode than parts from other suppliers.

The QP7024 and QP7025 Dual-Port SRAMs have true dual-ported memory cells allowing simultaneous reads of the same memory location. They provide two independent ports with separate control, and address and I/O pins permitting independent access for read or write to any memory location.

These products may be used as a stand-alone solution for x16 applications or easily combined to support 32 bit-wide systems using the MASTER/SLAVE feature. They are available over the full military temperature range at 35/45/55/70ns speeds, and have both low-power (2V data retention) and standard power selections. Both parts are packaged in ceramic 84-pin PGA and 84-pin ceramic quad flat-pack packages.

Fast Dual-Port SRAMs are in high demand for military and aerospace applications using multi-processor based systems in radar, flight computers and communications equipment requiring exceptionally high-speed and high bandwidth.

“This further demonstrates our design expertise and reinforces our position as the focused supplier of mission critical components for aerospace system applications,” said Jim Townsend, director of marketing with QP Semiconductor. “Our move supports our concentration on aerospace system OEM needs. These components have broad application in long-life systems that demand a second source for key components.”

The QP7024 and QP7025 high-speed, low-power Dual-Port SRAMs are available now in production quantities and hermetic package styles.
