CyberLink, AMD to intro next-generation products optimized with ATI Stream technology

TAIPEI, TAIWAN:CyberLink Corp. announced it is working closely with Advanced Micro Devices to develop optimized multimedia solutions with ATI Stream technology.

CyberLink was the first to support ATI Stream technology in its award winning video editor, PowerDirector. CyberLink has expanded that technology to their new video converter, MediaShow Espresso.

“As a leading developer of many of the most popular consumer photo and video applications, CyberLink consistently looks for new ways to improve the user experience and is employing ATI Stream technology to deliver great results faster than ever before,” said Godfrey Cheng, director of technical marketing for graphics products at AMD. “CyberLink’s engineers have successfully taken advantage of our advanced graphics products as well as ATI Stream technology to significantly speed up video conversion, editing, playback and transfer for consumers.”

AMD and CyberLink engineers have been collaborating to ensure maximum performance by delivering optimum GPU utilization when editing and converting videos for your favorite portable device, or uploading to the web sites like YouTube.

“We recognized the tremendous advantages that GPU processing could provide to photo and video software,” said Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink Corp. "AMD offers some of the best CPU and graphics solutions, and they have long been an important cohort for CyberLink. Through close technical collaboration with strategic partners like AMD, our engineers are able to consistently deliver the fastest, highest quality video software products in the world."

Demonstrations of the latest software solutions leveraging the GPU are being shown at Computex 2009 to interested members of the press and to OEM partners in CyberLink’s suite at the Grand Hyatt Taipei.

Products optimized with ATI Stream Technology:
PowerDirector: Award winning video editing software takes advantage of ATI Stream technology to maximize encoding performance when outputting to MPEG2 and AVC (H.264) video files.
MediaShow Espresso: Video conversion application leveraging AMD’s unique Unified Video Decoder (UVD) through its ATI Stream technology to quickly convert digital files for use on portable devices like Apple iPhone and Sony PSP.
