Display Photonic Systems and GEO Semiconductor announce partnership for creation of advanced micro-projector technology

InfoComm 2010, SANTA CLARA & VALENCIA, USA: Display Photonic Systems Inc. (DPS) is showcasing its new Micro-Projector based on Angular Color Projection (ACP) at InfoComm 2010.

The light engine was created through its collaboration and partnership with GEO Semiconductor, the industry leader in programmable, high performance, video and geometry processing IC solutions for both 2D and 3D applications.

ACP is the first non-color-sequential color-filter-free single panel projection technology in the world. It enables a highly efficient (up to 20 lumen per watt), compact (as small as 4cc), low cost micro/pico projector. ACP takes the evolutional approach where color information is manipulated in angular domain instead of spatial or temporal domain.

Created using the eWARP platform from GEO Semiconductor coupled to DPS’ patented Angular Color Projection (ACP) technology, this flagship product provides very high performance with great portability and enables a wide range of business, commercial and personal use applications.

"The DPS Micro-Projector provides superior projection capabilities in an extremely portable format at an optimum cost point," said Madhu Rayabhari, VP of Marketing, Business Development and Engineering at GEO Semiconductor. "This product is a key cornerstone to the ultimate goal of integrating projection systems into smart portable devices such as laptops and smart phones and helps achieve the vision of instant sharing of information anywhere and anytime.”

Commenting on the benefits of the eWARP technology, James Lupino, VP of Business Development at Display Photonics, said: "GEO Semiconductor’s eWARP Platform enabled us to develop a product that offers our customers a superior user experience that combines stunning visual quality at affordable price points. With a precise geometry processing engine that allows for exact optical alignment of the images and enables the use of lower cost optics along with a broad set of software tools to optimize performance, the eWARP Platform allowed us to offer an industry-leading product with great ease.”
