VLSI Research names Michael A. Martinez vice president

SANTA CLARA, USA: VLSI Research Inc, the leading provider of market research and
economic analysis on technical, business, and economic aspects in nanotechnology and related industries, appointed Michael A. Martinez to the newly created position of vice president. Martinez will report to VLSI’s President Risto Puhakka.

Martinez’s primary role will focus on expanding VLSI’s sales and marketing operations and infrastructure. In this capacity, he will be responsible for the marketing and sales of the company’s core research products as well as services on the company’s online site weSRCH, the virtual science forum for professionals who engage in the fields of high technology, green technologies, and medical arenas.

As part of the VLSI’s executive management, he will also play an essential role in the development and implementation of key corporate strategies.

"Michael's experience in high technology, semiconductor capital equipment and electronic industries will be invaluable to our company’s growth and product expansion strategy. His talent for marketing, positioning all aspects of high tech companies and his ability to grow markets will further enhance the already strong management team we have put in place at VLSI," Puhakka said.

Martinez has more than 20+ years of broad-based high technology experience in marketing leadership and general management positions. He most recently served as vice president of worldwide corporate marketing and investor relations for Aviza Technology Inc. Before Aviza he served as vice president of worldwide marketing for Photronics Inc.

Prior to joining Photronics, Martinez was corporate vice president of the Silicon Valley public relations firm MCA. His previous experience also includes various marketing management positions at Electronic Data Systems, Lam Research, OnTrak
Systems and Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI).
