SAN JOSE, USA: Cadence Design Systems Inc. announced that Fujitsu Microelectronics Solutions Ltd (FMSL) has adopted the Cadence Incisive metric-driven verification solution for advanced verification planning, management and simulation of its SoC designs.
FMSL found that Incisive Enterprise Manager shortens the functional verification cycle and brings greater efficiency in planning and managing verification tests run on Incisive Enterprise Simulator.
All tests running on Incisive Enterprise Simulator generate intuitive verification metrics that are driven, managed and displayed by Incisive Enterprise Manager. The thoroughness of these metrics help FMSL engineers quickly identify and resolve verification issues before those issues impact the project.
FMSL successfully eliminated unnecessary verification work, resulting in significant improvements in productivity and predictability for its design project.
Incisive Enterprise Manager and Enterprise Simulator are key components of the Cadence Incisive metric-driven verification solution, which improves project productivity, predictability and quality through better resource management.
Enterprise Manager and Enterprise Simulator can be used for all levels of verification, including block, chip, system and project levels, delivering an automated verification process from planning to closure. The advanced metrics collection and analysis features of Incisive Enterprise Manager quickly enable verification teams to avoid simulation tests that don’t contribute to verification completeness, saving time and effort on SoC projects.
“Our complex SoCs require a serious commitment to functional verification to ensure that our chips function as intended,” said Takao Sukemura, general manager of Development Division I at FMSL. “Incisive Enterprise Manager and Incisive Enterprise Simulator, as part of the Cadence metric-driven approach, provide us with the confidence we need to ensure we are conducting highly effective verification.”
Cadence metric-driven verification capabilities reduce the number of mistakes and ambiguities that can accompany manual work. Compiled to a database, verification metrics are an effective way to manage project progress, problems and recovery analysis.
By reducing the time needed to collect key metrics, Incisive Enterprise Manager allows verification engineers to spend more time on analysis and debugging, shortening the overall SoC project schedule.
“Like chip design itself, effective functional verification is becoming more challenging with the ever-increasing complexity of today’s SoCs,” said John Brennan, Incisive Enterprise Manager product marketing director at Cadence. “Fujitsu Microelectronics Solutions recognizes the significant time and cost savings an SoC company can achieve through the metric-driven approach pioneered by Cadence and used on projects now around the globe.”
