CommunicAsia2011, SANTA CLARA, USA: BroadLight, the leading supplier of fiber access processors, announced that Billion Electric Co. Ltd has selected BroadLight’s Helios embedded processor line as part of the development of their new Active Ethernet carrier class router product.
Billion’s new Active Ethernet Router designed with the Helios line of processors will deliver the carrier-class performance in a low cost design that meets carrier high performance service requirements.
Utilizing BroadLight’s gateway processors' superior performance and its unified software platform, Billion can roll out different models of the BiPAC 9300 gateway series, thus enabling quick, seamless competitive and short product turn around.
“We have a successful track record with BroadLight’s GPON technology and we are happy to expand our designs with their new Helios product line,” said Tim Chen, chairman and CEO of Billion.
“Active Ethernet (AE), known also as Point-To-Point Fiber Access, is a growing market driven by the Broadband Stimulus Grants in the US and ongoing municipal and utility deployments throughout Europe,” said Jeff Heynen, directing analyst, Broadband Access at Infonetics Research. “BroadLight and Billion have teamed together, leveraging BroadLight’s new high performance and energy efficient product and Billion’s carrier-class gateway technology.”
