TCL selects Cavium's PureVu video processors for networked display products

CES Unveiled 2011, LAS VEGAS, USA: Cavium Networks announced that TCL System Technology has adopted Cavium’s WiVu technology for its multimedia networked displays.

TCL System Technology, a Business Unit of TCL Corporation, the largest TV manufacture in China, will integrate WiVu technology into its next generation of display products allowing HD content to be distributed to multiple TVs.

Utilizing industry leading Super Low Latency (SLL) technology and H.264 video compression WiVu can provide a state-of-the-art mechanism for wireless distribution of high quality video and audio to multiple display devices.

Cavium’s PureVu video processors integrate the company’s SMART technology to provide a robust mechanism to support Quality of Service (QoS), ensuring that the best picture quality is always received and advanced copy protection to protect the source video from piracy.

Based on standard components such as ITU-T H.264 and IEEE 802.11 WiFi, Cavium’s WiVu technology has received endorsements from leaders in the consumer electronics industry such as TCL Corp.

“We chose Cavium’s WiVu technology for our Networked Multimedia Displays as it provided high video quality, covered the longest range and was scalable to support multiple display devices”, said Harry Peng, GM at TCL System Technology. “Our next generation of display products will be wireless, can easily be placed in multiple locations, can operate over a 100 feet from the source and can easily be scaled to meet our customers’ requirements.”

Cavium’s PureVu video processors support both 2D and 3D wireless display and are designed to enable companies such as TCL to develop cutting-edge products for video distribution to multiple displays over a significant distance. The PureVu family integrates Cavium’s SLL and SMART video technology to provide a robust mechanism for the delivery of high quality audio and video programming.

“As the leading provider of display products and China’s number one LCD TV supplier, TCL’s decision to select PureVu for their next generation products is a testimony to Cavium’s differentiated technology and commitment to our customers’ success,” said Manoj Gujral, executive VP and GM of the Broadband and Consumer Division at Cavium. “We look forward to a close partnership with TCL and further adoption of our WiVu™ technology in other TCL Multimedia Technology products.”
