Fairchild's configurable advanced ultra-low power logic solutions provide design flexibility; simplify purchasing and supply management

SAN JOSE, USA: Design engineers in the mobile and portable space have two challenges. They need to reduce the number of individual components they need to order for a specific design in order to simplify supply management. And, they have a need for lower power operating ranges for logic gates. To meet these needs, Fairchild Semiconductor has developed the universal, multi-function configurable 74AUP family of TinyLogic devices.

The family is comprised of configurable logic gates that enable multiple logic functions from a single two-input device. The 74AUP family can do up to nine different logic functions: AND, NAND, OR, NOR, XOR, XNOR, MUX, inverter, and buffer. This enables design engineers to use one part for multiple functions, which helps purchasing meet the need to reduce overall part count.

Additionally, the 74AUP family addresses the design trend in mobile and portable devices for lower operating ranges by providing compatibility with lower operating range application and core processors. These devices are designed for a wide low voltage operating range of .8V to 3.6V with a drive capability of 4mA, while still maintaining excellent switching speeds of 15ns.

The 74AUP family ensures very low static and dynamic power consumption across the entire recommended voltage range. All inputs are implemented with hysteresis to allow for slower transition input signals and better switching noise immunity.

The family includes the 74AUP1G57, 74AUP1G58, 74AUP1G97, 74AUP1G98 two-input, low power, universal configurable logic gates with nine different configurable logic functions and the 74AUP1T97, also provides single supply voltage level translation. Packaged in the ultra-small MicroPak™ package and even smaller MicroPak2™ package, the 74AUP family provides design engineers the flexibility they need without compromising performance.

By working closely with customers, Fairchild Semiconductor enables engineers to differentiate their designs by identifying market trends and developing solutions to meet those needs. This allows them to reduce time-to-market and maintain a competitive.
