Exar adds 15kV ESD RS-232/RS-485/RS-422 single-chip serial transceiver to multiprotocol portfolio

FREMONT, USA: Exar Corp., a leader in multiprotocol serial transceiver solutions, added another versatile device to its single-chip RS-232/RS-485/RS-422 product family – the SP337.

Featuring best-in-class 15kV ESD and operating from 3.3V to 5V, the SP337 can reduce the cost and simplify the design of dual protocol systems. It is ideal for factory automation, process controls, embedded PCs, security networks, point-of-sales equipment, and other applications requiring use of both RS-232 and RS-485 protocols.

"The addition of the SP337 further strengthens our market leading position in multiprotocol serial solutions," said Jack Roan, technical marketing manager, Interface Products. "Building on Exar's highly successful single-chip SP33x family, we have added the SP337 based on market demand for a high-speed, 15kV ESD, single chip solution that supports DB9 serial port connector requirements."

The SP337 is available now in volume quantities in a RoHS compliant 28-pin TSSOP or 28-pin WSOIC package. Pricing varies from $5.48-$5.82 per unit for 1K pieces depending on speed, package and temperature grade.
