itemic boosts product portfolio by taking over ASSA Systems

DRESDEN, GERMANY: itemic AG, the provider of software solutions for process automation, has taken over the Potsdam ASSA Systems GmbH, a provider of software systems for production control.

The software solutions of ASSA Systems allow itemic to supplement their product portfolio, especially in the areas of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), equipment interfaces and process control techniques for production and logistics. By
combining itemic's technologies for Statistical Process Control (SPC) with the real-time manufacturing process control systems by ASSA Systems, both companies are now able to offer their customers overall solutions, which significantly improve process safety and the ability to respond in the case of complex production processes and hence reduce manufacturing costs.

"The demand for integrated MES as well as SPC and APC solutions has increased significantly, especially in the last few years," says Torsten Werneke, CEO and founder of itemic. "Particularly manufacturing companies in the areas of semiconductor, photovoltaics, MEMS, automotive and medical equipment will be able to profit from our complete systems and the expertise of itemic AG."

Markus Heimhuber, the lead engineer and founder of ASSA Systems, adds: "In the past, we already enjoyed a number of successful projects with itemic. We are happy to be able to extend this success by combining our product portfolios and expertise."

itemic has taken over 100 percent of shares in ASSA Systems. ASSA Systems continues to trade as a 100 percent subsidiary of itemic in Potsdam.

With its Targoss platform, itemic provides Advanced Process Control (APC) software, which allows companies to increase the productivity and quality of complex manufacturing processes. Targoss serves as a basis for numerous independent applications. Its unique structure enables a simple integration of additional customer-specific solutions.

Detailed fab- and company-wide measured values and process data are saved in a central database and can be accessed by all employees at all times - starting with the manager to the engineer and also operators – as ndividual data or overall production performance, thus making the decision-making process that extra bit easier.

With ASSA Systems as the consultant, developer and integrator of complex, industrial software solutions, the company now has access to broad experience of close-to-process operating Manufacturing Execution Systems.
