Si2’s OpenAccess standard gets multi-threading capabilities

AUSTIN, USA: Silicon Integration Initiative (Si2) announced a new release of the OpenAccess standard and Reference Implementation which includes support for multi-threading, 32nm constraints unique to this particular technology node, as well as other functional enhancements.

The new specifications, the source code, binaries and related documentation for the new Reference Implementation are available to all the OpenAccess Coalition members at this time.

This first release of OpenAccess multi-threading will support an initial set of use models at a high-level; this set of use models is expected to be further extended in future releases based on user experiences and feedback. OpenAccess will now collaborate with the application to achieve the best performance for both single-threaded and multi-threaded scenarios.

The 32nm Constraint Release includes 19 new constraints that are now natively supported in OpenAccess. These are in addition to over 100 such constraints that support other technology nodes to describe physical layout parameters for such items as minimum spacing, width and enclosure checks. Descriptions and diagrams explaining semantics of the enhancements were supplied as part of the release.

These enhancements were examined and approved by the members of the OpenAccess Change Team (chaired by Cadence and IBM serving as the 2 co-architects) and by the members of the different Working Groups within the 44-member OpenAccess Coalition, Chaired by AMD. This community effort ensures that OpenAccess will continue to evolve to meet the needs of its members, as well as the entire industry, without forking into conflicting versions.
