Logicview selects Xilinx Virtex-6 FPGAs for next gen SoC prototyping system and emulation platform

BEIJING, CHINA: Xilinx Inc. announced that Logicview Electronic Technology Co. Ltd has selected Virtex-6 FPGAs for the company's next-generation prototyping system and hardware emulation platform slated for introduction in early 2012.

LogicView is a leading supplier of ultra-large-scale system-on-a-chip development and verification platforms that drastically shorten research and development cycles through geometric-level acceleration, high-speed communications, total signal visibility and automatic partitioning.

Logicview has built two generations of its industry leading products using Xilinx programmable platforms, including the company's popular Matrix 1000 Prototyping System and Logicview Emulation Platform which were both designed with Virtex-5 LXT and FXT FPGAs.

"Since our founding in 2008, Logicview has enjoyed stellar service and support from Xilinx and Avnet, enabling us rapidly bring innovative new products to market with increased capacity, interconnectivity, speed and reliability," said Liu Jianguan, chief technical director of Logicview Electronic. "For our current line of prototyping and emulation platforms, we built upon the Logicview architecture to exploit all of the advantages of Virtex-5, making full use of hard cores, PCIe endpoint modules, 6.5 Gbps high-speed serial transceivers and dynamic reconfigurable technology.

"With Virtex-6, we look forward to taking things to the next level for ultra-high-performance SoC design and verification by deploying a powerful combination of programmability, integrated blocks for digital signal processing, memory, and high-speed transceiver capabilities in our next generation platforms."

Zhang Yuqing, marketing and application director for Xilinx Asia Pacific, added: "The breakthroughs in speed, communications and capacity achieved by Logicview Electronic with Xilinx FPGAs have been truly remarkable. We look forward to many more breakthroughs in the future as the company migrates to 6 and 7 series FPGAs."

Established in the Science Park of Tsinghua University in 2008, Beijing Logicview Electronic Technology is a leading provider of SoC/ASIC verification emulation platforms and general large-scale development platforms. The company has established R&D centres and production centres in Beijing and Tianjin, as well as representative offices in mainland China (Beijing), Taiwan, and America.

Xilinx 6 series FPGAs
Since their introduction in February 2009, Xilinx award-winning 6 series FPGAs have been widely adopted by customers worldwide in a broad range of applications and key end markets including: aerospace and defense, automotive, consumer, industrial, medical, scientific and wired/wireless communications. To date, Xilinx has sold more than 10,000 Targeted Design Platforms.

More than 30 6 series Targeted Design Platforms and 70 FMC daughter cards are available in production today from Xilinx and members of its global ecosystem (Distribution Channel and Alliance Program).

The Virtex-6 FPGA family is the high-performance silicon foundation for Xilinx Targeted Design Platforms, built with the right mix of programmability, integrated blocks for digital signal processing, memory, and connectivity support – including high-speed transceiver capabilities – to satisfy the insatiable demand for higher bandwidth and higher performance.

Spartan-6 FPGAs are designed for cost-sensitive applications requiring high-speed connectivity and low-power operation with embedded serial transceivers, advanced power management, and proven 45-nanometer architecture. These devices provide a rich mix of integrated system features, including memory controllers, digital signal processing, and Endpoint block for PCIe, as well as RoHS-compliant lead-free package options for developing 'greener' electronics products.
