Wintegra WinPath selected for ZTE’s terabit router

MPLS & ETHERNET WORLD CONGRESS 2010, PARIS, FRANCE: Wintegra, a leader in access processing semiconductors announced that ZTE Corp. is using Wintegra’s WinPath processors and software in their world leading ZTR10 T8000 Cluster Core Router.

ZTE has become a global mainstream bearer network solution provider with its groundbreaking innovation. This newly announced Cluster Core Router is targeted at the high-end router market and has unmatched switching capacity.

Next generation high-end routers rely on multi-service protocol handling and Carrier Ethernet support to facilitate the migration to higher and higher capacity data transport for evolving networks. Wintegra’s WinPath devices and software are uniquely suited for the complex demands of these network solutions.

“Wintegra has the right mix of flexible multi-protocol support, high performance, plus scalability for our new T8000 solution,” said Gong Chaomei, ZTE’s T8000 Chief Engineer. “Their WinPath silicon and software solution is a great fit for the T8000.”

Wintegra offers factory and customer hardened silicon and software solutions for Carrier Ethernet and various forms of IP protocol handling. WinPath devices have the requisite I/O connectivity plus high performance data handling support for these next generation telecom switches and routers.

Additionally, WinPath-based designs are RAM-based, allowing for seamless upgrades of operational software as protocols evolve and new standards are implemented.

“Wintegra’s solutions have evolved as network demands have increased,” said Robert O’Dell, Founder and EVP of Marketing and Sales at Wintegra. “We have added Carrier Ethernet support and enhanced our multi-protocol to IP interworking capabilities giving us a compelling mix of high performance silicon and the software needed for these next generation systems like the T8000. We’re pleased to be part of this world-class, high-end ZTE cluster router.”
