USA: In August 2012, The Information Network had forecasted that the semiconductor industry would grow 1.5 percent in 2013.
At that time, WSTS forecast a 7.2 percent growth. Subsequently, in its Autumn forecast, WSTS dropped that growth rate to 4.5 percent. Last week, the WSTS dropped its forecast for 2013 further to 2.1 percent.
The Information Network never changed its forecast and maintains a 1.5 percent increase for 2013.
Other forecasts show that the semiconductor market is geared to grow 5.6 percent in 2013 (IHS) or maybe 4.5 percent (Gartner) or maybe 6 percent (IC Insights) or maybe 4.9 percent (IDC) or maybe 10.1 percent (VLSI Research).
