USA: Entropic announced its second-generation, single-chip Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) 2.0 system solution, the EN2810.
Building upon the maturity and performance of Entropic's first-generation MoCA 2.0 solution, already used in numerous OEM platforms, the EN2810 offers a path to a more economical and lower power solution without any sacrifices in performance. Additionally, by being pin compatible with Entropic's latest MoCA 1.1 chip, the EN2810 provides an easy migration path for OEMs to upgrade their products to MoCA 2.0.
With global Pay-TV service providers moving toward IP video gateway/client architectures in the home, the need has increased for a high-speed, reliable MoCA 2.0 backbone to distribute entertainment services over wired (MoCA) home networks. MoCA 2.0 is an absolute necessity given the impending deployment of 4K TV and the bandwidth requirements associated with Ultra HD content in order to avoid potential network bottlenecks.
The EN2810 provides the maximum throughput, critical power management features and enhanced network dependability to meet service providers' stringent Quality of Service (QoS) requirements. Potential applications include IP-Client set-top boxes when paired with Entropic's advanced system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions, gateway devices when partnered with DOCSIS integrated circuits (ICs) and other home networking products such as broadband routers, access points, Ethernet-to-Coax Adapters and WiFi extenders.
Specifically for consumer electronics (CE) OEMs, from game console and TV display makers to home networking equipment providers, Entropic's EN2810 provides an extremely cost-effective MoCA 2.0 IC, built with the latest 28nm process technology. Paving the road with the most mature MoCA solutions, Entropic advances the MoCA market and enables CE OEMs to bring to market the most stable MoCA devices, ready for evaluation today.
