Mobile World Congress 2011, SANTA CLARA, USA: Analogix Semiconductor Inc., a world leader in high-performance digital media interface solutions, announced the launch of its patent-pending SlimPort technology, which allows smartphones and other SlimPort-enabled mobile devices to deliver uncompressed 3D HD audio and video to large screen HDTVs and other displays over the existing mobile USB connector without draining the mobile devices’ batteries.
SlimPort transmitters work with power saving CoolHD(TM) Analogix technology to enable HDTVs to play back digital media from any mobile device – including tablets, MP4 players, digital cameras, mobile phones and camcorders – using the existing mobile USB connector and existing display devices such as HDTVs, monitors and projectors.

The ability to connect smartphones or other mobile devices to external displays has historically been limited because manufacturers were either reluctant to incur the cost or unable to find room for an extra connector. SlimPort not only offers the ability for the mobile device to utilize a single connector for charging, data synchronization and multimedia playback, but also provides increased compatibly with a larger range of display by supporting multiple display interconnect standards.
With SlimPort’s built-in HDMI and other legacy display converters, all that’s required to connect any device to any display is a standard USB connector and an ultra-thin SlimPort cable.
