TAIWAN: According to DRAMeXchange, the research unit of Trendforce, given the prosperity of smartphone and tablet PC in 2010, foreseeable strong growth momentum will continue in 2011.
Since emerging device is required more on dedicated outlook design, power consumption, system performance and storage, we expect the content of embedded NAND Flash will be enhanced while the cost-down advantage will reflect on the NAND Flash price from technology migration. The embedded NAND Flash products such as MCP, eMMC and SSD-alike will be mainly adopted and expect to raise the demand.Source: DRAMeXchange.
According to DRAMeXchange, embedded NAND Flash consumption has reached 40 percent in 2010 and will climb up to 63 percent in 2011, first time cross over the consumption from memory card and UFD. This trend is assured that the raising portion and diversification from system products will help to ease the impact from volatile memory card and UFD market.
Also, it will help to lower the system risk and enhance the capability in inventory digestion.Source: DRAMeXchange, Taiwan.
From application side in 2011, Handset still consumes more than 40 percent of total NAND Flash consumption while the surging tablet PC will take over 10 percent consumption. UFD portion will continue the declining pattern accordingly.
We expect the growth momentum from memory card and UFD will be much softened since more devices are designed with embedded storage.
