SAN JOSE, USA: SEMI, the global industry association for companies that supply manufacturing technology and materials to the world’s chip makers, reported that worldwide semiconductor manufacturing equipment billings reached $11.12 billion in the third quarter of 2010.
The billings figure is 22 percent higher than the second quarter of 2010 and 148 percent higher than the same quarter a year ago. The data is gathered jointly with the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ) from over 100 global equipment companies that provide data on a monthly basis.
Worldwide semiconductor equipment bookings were US$12.39 billion in the third quarter of 2010. The figure is 113 percent more than the same quarter a year ago and 6 percent greater than the bookings figure for the second quarter of 2010.
