IESA expands ESDM wings with DEFTRONICS 2014

BANGALORE, INDIA: India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), in partnership with Messe München International (MMI) will be hosting DEFTRONICS 2014, an international industry conference and exihibition focused on “Electronics contribution in Defence, Aerospace and Internal Security” to be held on September 23 – 24, 2014 at BIEC, Bangalore.

G.M. Siddeshwara: Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and S.R. Patil: Minister – IT, BT, S&T, Government of Karnataka and Gopichand Katragadda: Group CTO of TATA Group to be present during the inauguration session at DEFTRONICS 2014 and will address the media and other invitees. Dr. R K Tyagi, CMD, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd will address the gathering with the industry vision during the closing session.

The Indian defence and aerospace industry has seen a phenomenal growth in the past decade, with government capital spending quadrupling from $3 billion in 2000 to $12.2 billion in 2010 according to a McKinsey report.
According to forecasts by IHS, India’s national defence budget, which is $37.33 billion for the current fiscal year, is expected to grow to $65.4 billion by 2020, making us the fourth biggest defence spender in the world by then.
There are many factors impacting the aerospace & defence sector. National Electronics policies like MSIPS, PMA and defence related policies like Offset policy, Procurement policy & FDI in defence, Licensing policy & Foreign Trade are there to provide impetus and act as enablers but certain changes and requirements exist.

The internal security market in India is growing at a phenomenal rate and this segment also needs a dedicated industry promotion. The focus of the symposium is therefore on defence, aerospace and the emerging segment of Internal Security as the challenges and solutions in all these sectors are probably similar and an early corrective start will be helpful.

DEFTRONICS 2014 has already set-up a benchmark with the presence of leading defence organisations like Airbus, Boeing, MOOG, Rolls Royce, HAL and many other Indian and global companies. During the event, IESA will also share insights on the overview, status, scope, key processes and opportunities in the ESDM landscape in the A&D system and internal security generated through an exclusive research conducted with PwC.
