ROSH HAAYIN, ISRAEL: ASOCS Ltd, a pioneer in development of virtual Base Station (vBS) solution, today announced that it has joined the Intel Network Builders program, designed to make it easier to build, enhance and operate software-defined network (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV) based infrastructure.
Intel established the program to spark innovation, reduce development effort, advance open networking standards, increase interoperability, and ultimately, reduce time to market.
ASOCS's vBS is a key to a successful implementation of an end-to-end NFV solution, enabled by a vibrant ecosystem of startup companies as well as established vendors.
The virtualization of a base station remains as one of the last bastions on the road to a comprehensive end-to-end NFV solution for mobile network infrastructure.
Virtual Base-station requires a substantial set of open standards and interfaces to other network functions such as the Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and Remote Radio Units (RRU),that ASOCS with Intel and other partners is aiming to establish.
