SUNNYVALE, USA: MIPS Technologies Inc., a leading provider of industry-standard processor architectures and cores for digital consumer, home networking, wireless, communications and business applications, has joined the MIPI Alliance as an Adopter Member.
The goal of the MIPI Alliance is to establish specifications for standard hardware and software interfaces in mobile devices, and encourage adoption of those standards throughout the mobile ecosystem. By joining the MIPI Alliance, MIPS Technologies is supporting these standards to speed its customers’ mobile SoC development.
“MIPI Alliance is pleased to welcome MIPS Technologies to our membership roster in support of forthcoming processors which leverage MIPI specifications,” said Joel Huloux, chairman of the Board of MIPI Alliance.
“Our members share the objective of simplifying design and implementation of hardware and software to promote reuse and compatibility in mobile devices. MIPS Technologies’ membership further extends the MIPI Alliance momentum, enabling the mobile industry to introduce more sophisticated devices at an accelerated rate.”
“As the MIPS architecture continues to gain traction in mobile handsets and other mobile devices, we are focused on providing total solutions around our cores to help our customers get to market quickly,” said Art Swift, VP of marketing and business development, MIPS Technologies.
“Standard interfaces such as those developed through MIPI can improve interoperability between solutions, reducing development time and costs for the entire mobile ecosystem. We are excited to be a part of this important effort that can benefit our customers and their customers, and will ultimately benefit consumers.”
