THIEF RIVER FALLS, USA: Electronic components distributor Digi-Key Corp., recognized by design engineers as having the industry's broadest selection of electronic components available for immediate shipment, is now stocking NXP’s LPC11C00 series, starting with the LPC11C14, a Controller Area Network (CAN) 2.0B-compliant controller for industrial and embedded networking applications.
While CAN has long been considered one of the best choices for robust, real-time communication, the price has been prohibitive for low-cost embedded applications. With the introduction of the LPC11C00 series, NXP now provides a new low-cost entry point and total CAN solution that reduces product development risk, lowers total system cost, and speeds time to market for high-performance embedded designs.
Additionally, by incorporating CAN and CANopen drivers in on-chip ROM, the LPC11C00 series provides design engineers with easy-to-use API commands to the CANopen protocol, enabling rapid integration into CAN-based networks.
“With the addition of several low-cost CAN device options, the LPC11C00 family is continuing to expand into even more 8- and 16-bit application areas,” said Geoff Lees, vice president and general manager, microcontroller product line, NXP Semiconductors. “Offering CAN and CANopen protocol support directly on-chip greatly simplifies the plug-and-play integration process.”
Dave Doherty, Digi-Key vice president, semiconductor product, said, “We are very pleased to offer this new low-cost, high-value microcontroller to the thousands of design engineers who rely on Digi-Key to provide them with the latest and most innovative products for their designs.”
