KARLSRUHE, GERMANY: Cinemo, developers of advanced embedded multimedia and streaming solutions, and Imagination Technologies, a leader in multimedia and communications semiconductor IP cores, have announced a technical co-operation on enhanced video playback for low power embedded systems.
Enabling simultaneous playback of multiple HD streams in all popular formats, including high profile H.264, Cinemo’s advanced embedded media engine and Imagination’s POWERVR video technology create an unrivalled level of video performance on consumer electronic, industrial, and automotive devices while reducing the power needs in the process.
Cinemo fully supports Imagination’s POWERVR VXD decoder family of IP cores used by a growing number of leading semiconductor vendors.
Further, Cinemo’s technology stack includes all popular optical and file-based media formats, as well as advanced audio and video codecs enabling full HD multimedia playback with network streaming support. The component-based architectures of Cinemo engines provide customized solutions and allow extensions of the feature set and platform specific optimizations.
“Imagination has a long standing leadership in the creation of SoC IP, and POWERVR is an industry standard in multimedia processing.” says Richard Lesser, CEO of Cinemo. “By providing a much greater efficiency on low power devices, Cinemo and Imagination Technologies are ensuring there is little compromise where outstanding video performance is concerned. We are therefore, delighted to be working together.”
“Cinemo delivers exactly what is promised,” says Tony King-Smith, VP marketing, Imagination Technologies. “And we’ve been delighted to demonstrate their multimedia player decoding multiple high-bitrate HD streams of different formats in both Linux and Windows environments, at full frame rate, utilising our POWERVR video hardware decoder technologies. We’re excited to work with Cinemo to optimise future versions of the Cinemo technology stack to further enhance video playback, to give users a robust, highest quality HD experience in all situations with the lowest possible power consumption.”
