PHOENIX, USA: DDC-I, a leading supplier of software and professional services for mission- and safety-critical applications, announced today that its safety-critical, DO-178B Level A certifiable, Deos real-time operating system and OpenArbor development tool suite are available for the Freescale Semiconductor e300 and e500 cores.
Deos running atop Freescale PowerQUICC II Pro and PowerQUICC III processors provides an ideal platform for developing and hosting mil/aero and other safety-critical applications, particularly those requiring high design assurance and timely DO-178B certification.
Deos is the industry’s most robust, highest performance RTOS for the safety-critical market. Featuring deterministic real-time response, the memory-protected RTOS employs patented “slack scheduling” to deliver higher CPU utilization than any other safety-critical COTS RTOS.
Deos is the only certifiable time and space (T&S) partitioned COTS RTOS built from the ground up for safety-critical applications. Deos also provides the easiest, lowest cost path of any COTS RTOS to DO-178B Level A certification, the highest level of safety criticality.
“Deos provides unique slack scheduling and T&S partitioning capabilities that enable developers to take full advantage of the performance of Freescale processors in a safety-critical environment,” said Greg Rose, vice president of marketing at DDC-I. “We look forward to working with Freescale and our customers to create best-in-class safety-critical platforms that combine our industry-leading DO-178B certifiable Deos RTOS with Freescale’s versatile PowerQUICC processors.”
“Freescale processors combine scalable high-performance computing with versatile I/O and networking functionality,” added Kamal Khouri, head of software and ecosystem management for Freescale's Networking and Multimedia Group. “DDC-I’s Deos RTOS provides an excellent platform for developing, hosting and certifying a broad range of safety-critical applications targeting our world-class Freescale processors.”
The PowerQUICC II Pro family of communications processors is a next-generation extension of the popular PowerQUICC II processor line. Featuring scalable clock speeds up to 667 MHz, the PowerQUICC II Pro Family integrates an enhanced e300 core, DDR memory, dual Gigabit Ethernet, dual PCI and high-speed USB controllers.
PowerQUICC III processors are based on the scalable e500 SoC platform and Power Architecture processor core. Utilizing Freescale’s 90-nm silicon-on-insulator (SOI) copper interconnect process technology, PowerQUICC III processors feature clock speeds of up to 1.5 GHz and offer a wide range of high-speed connectivity options, including Gigabit Ethernet, Serial RapidIO and PCI Express.
Development support for Deos includes DDC-I’s Eclipse-based, mixed-language OpenArbor IDE, which features C and C++ optimizing compilers, a color-coded source editor, project management support, automated build utilities, and a mixed-language, multi-window, symbolic debugger.
