MindTree's real-time video stitching algorithm enhances field of view

BANGALORE, INDIA: MindTree Ltd, a global Product Engineering Services and IT Solutions company, unveiled its real-time video stitching algorithm, which is part of its intelligent video surveillance solution. The patent-pending algorithm can stitch videos from up to four co-located cameras placed either horizontally or vertically in real time.

The stitched video from multiple cameras increases the field of view and provides better situation awareness to the viewer. MindTree's intelligent video surveillance program is supported by the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) under its New Millennium Indian Technology Leadership Initiative (NMITLI).

The low-complexity video stitching algorithm requires no scene training and performs dynamic feature matching and blending. A scene overlap of at least five percent is required for the algorithm to work. These algorithms have been optimized on the Intel and TI platforms to reduce the time to market.

Typical locations where video stitching is deployed to provide greater field of view are railway stations, airports, retail stores, border and coastal surveillance points. Video stitching is also deployed in high-end automobiles and in battle tanks to enhance passenger safety by increasing the field of view for the driver.

"MindTree's real-time video stitching algorithm has been delivered by developing patent-pending, low-complexity algorithms," said MindTree President and CEO - R&D Services, Vinod Deshmukh. "Our customers can pick from a suite of video analytics algorithms that include algorithms for display enhancement, video content analysis and video search and summarization to build a complete solution that meets their requirements," he added.

MindTree's intelligent video surveillance solution portfolio consists of three main components - video analytics software, intelligent video management software and platforms. The video analytics suite consists of algorithms that address areas related to display enhancements, video content analysis and video search and summarization.

The intelligent video management solution enables centralized and intelligent management of all video, audio and network equipment. Ready-to-manufacture reference designs for Digital Video Recorder (4 channel analog DVR and 16 channel hybrid DVR) and camera encoder (2/4 channel) complete the platforms portfolio. MindTree licenses each of these components as well as provides customization support to tweak the components or the complete solution for specific customer needs.
