SAN DIEGO, USA: Continuous Computing has announced that Qualcomm has selected its industry-renowned Trillium wireless protocol software to support Qualcomm’s Femtocell Station Modem (FSM) product line for 3G Wireless small cell products.
The combined solution enables customers of Qualcomm and Continuous Computing to quickly meet the growing market demand for low-power and high-capacity base stations for residential, enterprise and metro applications.
Trillium Femtocell software coupled with Qualcomm FSM silicon offers network equipment providers and device manufacturers the unparalleled combination of performance and ease of integration to deliver complete, high-quality market-ready solutions quickly and cost effectively.
The flexibility of Continuous Computing’s software enables customization to the needs of individual operators or the addition of upgraded features and new product capabilities. Built on the successful foundation of Continuous Computing’s award-winning wireless software product line, Trillium Femtocell software offers customers a clear path to 3G Wireless femtocells with Qualcomm’s FSM silicon devices. Qualcomm FSM silicon and Trillium Femtocell software are both available today.

The FSM series chipsets offer a complete baseband modem and RF solution for femtocell applications. They support the HSPA+ wireless broadband standard, full MIMO implementation and transmit and receive diversity, providing data rates of up to 28.8 Mbps downstream. FSM chipsets feature a high level of integration to enable more cost-effective femtocells with small design footprints.
In addition, FSM chipsets feature QSON-enabling interference management software to preserve macro network integrity and mobility management software to preserve existing subscriber use models without any manual configurations to the femtocell. The chipsets also include a programmable 1 GHz Snapdragon based processor to power a variety of applications that can help operators differentiate their femtocell offerings.

Trillium femtocell software supports both 3G Evolved High Speed Packet Access (HSPA+) and Long Term Evolution (LTE) femtocells. Key features include:
